She began her writing career writing tie-in children’s books and short stories for DC Comics. Most recently she published a second edition of her book, Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Alien Species, for Random House. After attacking the Star Wars universe, Ann plunged into writing science fiction/fantasy, historical fiction, and, of course, mysteries. Her present work-in-progress is a Sherlock Holmes novel-in-stories, written in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle, entitled The Watson Chronicles. Ann is a classically trained soprano, and has performed around the New York City area. She has many interests from music to art history, to theology and all forms of literature. After living in New York City for fifteen years, Ann recently moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband Joseph Lewis and their son, Raymond. Together they look forward to enjoying their new life in the heartland. The question was: Could Arthur Conan Doyle's story "The Mazarin Stone," originally written in third person, have been told effectively in first person with Watson as the narrator like most of the other tales in the Sherlock Holmes Canon? Doyle originally wrote this story based on his one-act play, The Crown Diamond, and some of the Hounds thought that adapting it to the point of view of a single character might cause it to lose its sense of surprise. Despite the difficulties it presented, Ann believed it could be done and set out to prove it. Taking Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's text, she reorganized it, edited it for first person voice, and added sections in Watson's point of view to the story. This altered version of Doyle's text will appear, courtesy of the Conan Doyle Estate, stretched over three issues of The Serpentine Muse, the publication of the Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes, starting in September.
